Technically Speaking All in on IT

Another funny thing I have noticed while running Windows Defender Beta 2:
It does not seem to update itself via its own “shell” for lack of a better technical term. What I mean  is, when it is ready to get a definitions update, I get the traditional yellow security center icon in my systray — the same as if I had any other Windows Update patch to apply.

The previous version – Windows AntiSpy Beta 1 update itself from within its own interface. The thing I don't like in this new process is that it seems to follow the Windows Update schedule for applying the definition update. It just sits there with the “pending” yellow icon, until I assume, a time when my computer (laptop) is on at 3am, and then it will automatically install it. While I find this behavior acceptable for Windows OS patches to my laptop, I like my AV patches to be applied ASAP – as soon as the new definitions are available. It just gives me that secure warm fuzzy.
