Technically Speaking All in on IT
I had a Steve Riley moment at my hotel this evening. He gave several examples of lax security in his breakout session today. Guards helping him carry servers out to his car without seeing if he should be taking them. Managers leaving supply room keys in a desk drawer for anyone to use “as needed.” I accidentally locked myself out of my hotel room. My wallet was inside as well. I went to the lobby to get a new key. The lady at the front desk did good and asked for identification. When I didn't have it she told me someone would come and let me in and check my ID. No one came after 20 minutes so I went back to the lobby. She was gone so I explained again to the young man at the front desk. He didn't ask me a single question other than my room number and promptly gave me not one, but two more keys to my room. “Sorry for the trouble,” he said. Oh, don't mention it. And by the way, I am locked out of room 1433 as well! :) Posted on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 11:40 PM | Back to top
