Technically Speaking All in on IT
I caught my plane out of Cincinnati at 1PM today and arrived in Orlando greeted by a thunderstorm. There is nothing like coming in from above the clouds expecting palm trees and sunshine and instead getting dark thunderclouds and pounding rain … and here I thought I might work on my tan too.

I made my way to the hotel (I am at the Wyndham) and checked in. I then went over and caught the bus to the OCCC. I haven't been here since the last Tech*Ed. I think the convention is in an entirely different part of the OCCC than last time. It doesn't look very familiar.

Registration was smooth as silk. There wasn't anyone in line at the MCP Express Check-In. I was pleased to find out they were giving us little RFID stickers to insert in our badges. I see a lot of promise for this new technology and thought it was pretty cool of Microsoft to be demonstrating it here.

I then went over to the Xbox gaming zone and tried to hold my own in the competition. I am afraid I did horribly and only racked up 10 kills. I haven't played a FPS in about a year so I didn't expect much.

Then there was the author signing at the Tech*Ed bookstore. I was also pleasantly surprised to see healthy snacks like carrots and Atkins meal replacement bars out at the snack tables. Of course, there were Ding Dongs and Twinkies too, but it was a start!

I spent the rest of the time walking around the OCCC and taking it all in. I cannot wait for tomorrow and to dive right in. Hands on Labs will be the first thing I hit tomorrow at 7AM sharp. I got some final emails out of the way for the mobile madness event and some focus groups I will be doing. I also did some final studying for my MCSE Windows 2003 test I am taking on Wednesday.

Geek Dinner Update: Bahama Breeze does not take reservations but they do have call-ahead seating. They suggested calling around 6:30PM for a party of 20 to be seated at approximately 8:30pm. See you all there!
