Well with all this hoopla surrounding Microsoft Silverlight, and the question of the product’s name origin, I finally decided to get down to the bottom of it…and it was perfect timing that my Community-Credit prize package from January and February arrived today. Earlier this evening I managed to get in touch with David to ask him first hand about it and was quite surprised at the answer. With all that said, Congratulations David! I saw that the "Knight Rider" car is up for sale and at first thought "How cool would that be?" - after all I watched it a bunch during the few years of my childhood that I actually lived in the states...but then I got to reading further...it's no big deal that it doesn't "really" go 300MPH or fly, or shoot missles, or any of that cool stuff, but this car isn't even street legal because of missing smog equipment...so it would be an expensive dust collector. Hey - it does still have the red scanner ......
I’ve always been a fan of agile methodologies – just as I’ve always dreaded process heavy projects…mostly that fear has come with good reason, i.e., the project I’m on right now that is a waterfall project in scrum clothing ;) Well I found myself briefly thinking “Grrrrr – why did *this* have to change” today when I found out a nice chunk of work I’ve done for the current sprint I’m on will need to be re-worked because there were some rather significant database changes, i.e., adding 4 more tables ......
I won a self-stirring coffee mug in the March 2007 Community-Credit contest :) One of the funny quirks with this prize is I actually suggested it as a prize a few months back – so not only was it accepted as a “stupid prize” but then I turn around and get it as the 5th place winner. I did the same thing a few months back with the “snow in a bag” I recommended and then later won. The good news with that track record is that this month the grand prize is an R2-D2 trash can…which is about the coolest ......
