Lou Vega a thump to the brain

Two weekends ago my team had to work late into the night to migrate an existing web application to new hardware...things were going pretty crazy and we were there waaaaaay to late in the night. At one point during the frustration with the server we were putting this app on, one of my team muttered something about "I bet that server just doesn't WANT to play nice" - so while he wasn't looking during a reboot I went into the BIOS on this Dell 2950 and changed the scrolling text on the server faceplate to:

I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave

and then called him back over saying I had found an error message that might help - we all started laughing (probably because it was close to 1am) and eventually went home...and forgot about the change.

Fast-forward to earlier today when I overheard someone in the lab mention a "weird error message" on one of the servers...I had to leave quickly to keep from laughing and eventually I'll go in and quietly change it back!

To put things in perspective - this person was the same one who was alarmed when I modified the status message on our HP LaserJet to read:

Help: Toner Leaking!

Maybe instead of changing the server faceplate message back to what it was I should have it say:

How about a nice game of Chess?

You seem to be as big fans of 2001 as those who made Red Planet! :-)
