Exactly one year ago, I started blogging at GeeksWithBlogs. This has been an amazing year for me professionally. Promoting WPF in my firm has been a tough but rewarding experience. I got to say, ever since I attended MIX06, I've been enthusiastic about the technology, and it became almost a passion to talk about it to my colleagues and managers. While I hadn't been blogging before, I had been very active in the JavaScript community, and continuing this work in the .NET / WPF community just seemed natural. The blog was a natural medium to write about my work, and hopefully, in a small way, help others to learn the technologies that "turn me on". It's been a great pleasure to get a MVP award 6 months after starting blogging (even though it's but a part of the activities that got me the award).
It's also very interesting to see the reactions toward my blog in my firm. It's a huge and quite conservative corporation, and I kind of navigate between enthusiasm (my managers, thankfully) and warnings (intellectual property concerns). Officially, we are encouraged to blog (though it's never very clear if that should be on our free time or not), but there are also a lot of concerns about divulgating secrets. I guess that it takes time to establish blogging as a corporate policy, and who knows, maybe I am paving the way for it.
I am very happy to have chosen GeeksWithBlogs as a platform for my blog. I think that it's a great community, and I really enjoy reading what the others blog about. So now, as an anniversary present, can I get a Search box for my blog? :-) Happy Anniversary!!
