Melancholy and the 5 Day Sadness

Thursday, November 2, 2006 6:46 AM

I'm very melancholy lately. I'm in the waning light of my twenties...5 more days to be exact. I'm going somewhat squirrly thinking about what I need to do in the last dying gasps of my reckless youth. I was considering streaking through a mall...but that would just look pathetic...I mean, beyond that fact that I'd be streaking through a mall. The papers would probably round up and say I was 30, instead of correctly addressing me as the "29 year old man fighting against his perceived loss of youth". I mean...seriously...I'm still going to play WoW, I'm still going to watch sports, I'll have the same friends, the same job...the clock ticks over midnight and the calendar moves to the next day, and I really won't have changed (which sucks...when you hit a major milestone, you should instantly lose 40 lbs).

But there's still some sorrow for some reason...some sense of loss, or at least reflection.

So welcome to my Melancholy and the 5 Day Sadness celebration, where all my blog posts will invoke the same emotions of despair and loss as listening to Concrete Blonde's Bloodletting album half tanked and looking over a high school yearbook screaming "Why, WHY did I quit the football team?!". Or something like that.
