HD and my life will never be the same...

Saturday, June 10, 2006 4:00 AM

Feeling absolutely horrid that I'll be missing out on the Fellowship of the Geek (read: Tech Ed and hanging out with my peeps), I decided to drown my sorrows last night in technology...and oh, what a drunken orgy of HD loving it was!

Our local cable company is offering a low monthly payment plan, no interest, for their HDTV-PVR boxes. So last night I went out, signed up, and brought home my new digital cable-HD-PVR box! Very exciting. I borrowed a buddy's HD box for the Superbowl last year, and it was an amazing picture. Last night I watched Ecuador kick Poland all around the pitch in first round World Cup action, and it looked unbelievable! The only thing that's weird is that the hard drive seems to make whirly noises whenever you change a channel...I guess because, since you can pause live tv and what not, it has to constantly be recording...I wonder if I can turn that off (pausing live TV isn't really the big deal for me...recording shows without a VCR is more important).

In other news, I'm really looking forward to this weekend. I'm calling it the “Me-Time” weekend because it's the first weekend where I have nothing going on with church or family or anything...calandar is clear. I do have a bit of work stuff to do (why is it when you work on .NET 2.0, and you go back to .NET 1.1, it just seems so...OLD), but nothing major.

So that's the big news for now. Going to work on the relaunch of MadMexican.net this weekend...get something sweet up there to knock your socks off.
