OT: A new name for WinFx ?

If you have not heard by now, Microsoft is having copyright/trademark issues with one of their new technologies - Windows Workflow Foundation. I have heard mixed stories but apparently one or both of the World Wildlife Foundation and the World Wrestling Federation have complained about Microsoft's use of the WWF acronym.

I thought I would offer up my solution to this pickle which Microsoft currently find themselves in. I think rather than call these technologies Windows Foundations they could use "… On Windows" as the brand. This would make

  • Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF) into Workflow on Windows (WoW)
  • Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) into Presentation on Windows (PoW)
  • Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) into Communications on Windows (CoW)

I think this works <g> Well, maybe it would be hard selling the last one, but the first two came out really well. :)

Wow, Pow, Cow. I like the pronouncability...

As for WWF, all of Microsoft should be using WF to abbreviate Windows Workflow foundation...so we have WF, WPF, WCF.

I believe the World Wildlife Foundation enforced their rights to WWF over the World Wrestling Federation in court.

Naming is fun!

Yes, the pronouncability gave me a bit of a laugh so I thought I would share it with the world.
I think the names for these technologies are a bit of a mouth full and I think I preferred their code names.
