Chris G. Williams Beware: I mix tech and personal interests here.

By now, if you read the main GWB feed, you've probably noticed a few posts mentioning the www.ILoveVB.NET community.

One of the perks of being a Microsoft MVP is that you occasionally get free software and services from various companies. This give me an opportunity to try new things and experiment without a big investment up front. The I Love VB.NET community is one of those experiments.

So, what's it all about? I suppose you can think of it as a safe haven for VB.NET developers. When I first registered the domain name (a while back) I intended it as a place where I could put my own projects, but it's grown in scope since then.

If you are a VB.NET developer, enthusiast, MVP or evangelist, and you want a blog for your project (or just to proclaim your endless enthusiasm for VB.NET) then I'll be happy to set you up. There's no cost to you at all. If you need file hosting, an image gallery, forums or a blog... I have you covered.

I already have stuff in there for HA! and for the VB.NET XNA work I've been doing. My buddy Theo has a blog there for his experimentation with VB CSLA. I can assure you, there is plenty of room for more.

Just sign up and drop me a line to get set up. However, there are a few rules...

  • First and foremost, it needs to be VB.NET focused. That doesn't mean there can't be any C# in your project at all, but it needs to really showcase VB.NET.
  • It also needs to be Pro-VB.NET. This means no scathing diatribes about how much VB.NET sucks. If you have a frustration, naturally this is the place to voice it, but the world absolutely does not need another Bellware or Scoble... so keep it friendly.
  • Blog posts should be fairly relevant. There are plenty of blog sites in the world where you can discuss your Zune, your D&D collection, your neighbor with the loud music, etc... GWB is a fine one. www.ILoveVB.NET isn't.

That's pretty much it as far as rules go.

As I said before, maybe you're passionate about VB.NET. Maybe you want to do something about all the code samples that seem to only be in C#.  Maybe you've got a project that you've been toiling on for a few years. Maybe you're just learning VB.NET. No matter what your story is, we have a place for you.

Check it out.

Feel free to grab a little blog bling while you're at it...
