I've done some flyers, and of course web & email based advertising... but today marks the first time I've designed an ad for print media.
January 9th, our ad appears in LINK Magazine (a local paper.)
I had to redo the ad a few times before I got it in the right format, and I was learning GIMP along the way, but I finally got something together I'm pretty happy about.
Now, having said that, there are a few things I'll do differently next time. Main objective this time was to get the word out about monthly events. For February I'll be running an ad about our "Win a Dream Date with Great Cthulhu" tournament.
about GIMP. So far I really like it. I've been using it on and off for a few months now. Sometimes it infuriates me, but that's usually because I'm trying to do something the wrong way. Once I figure out what it is I actually want to accomplish, GIMP makes it fairly easy to do. I was always "ok" in Photoshop, but never really all that great (and downright horrible in Illustrator.) As those packages get progressively more complicated and expensive, it's nice to have something like GIMP to fall back on.
