The Caffeinated Geek Tech Obsessed in Winnipeg

Etienne Tremblay tagged me today.  It seems that this is the new version of the chain letter, just more public.

I'll try to not be the one who breaks the cycle.  At least there is no ominous warning of impending doom to those who do :)

Now I'm supposed to tell you 5 things that few people know about me ...

1. I have lived my entire life within 60 miles of Winnipeg.  I grew up in the city of Portage la Prairie Mantoba and lived there until I started University.

2. University, now there's an interesting topic.  Although I have spent most of my career in Software Development, I graduaged with a B. Sc. in Ecology in 1991.  I particularly focused on aquatic ecology and freshwater fisheries in general.  I worked with the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans as a field biologist prior to my career in software development.

 3. I don't like cats.  I don't have any weird phobias or anything about them, I just don't particularly like them.

4. I do like gadgets.  I don't know what it is but I can't walk away from something with a blinking light on it. Actually, many you might have already known this.  But, did you know that many of my gadgets are of the power tool variety?  I love Home Depot almost as much as the electronics store.  If there is a tool that will save me 5% effort on a home improvement project, I must have it :)

5. My home computer SUCKS!  Most people are quite surprised that I have a 5 year old Dell at home.  It has 256MB RAM and a 40GB hard drive.  However, I always have at least one (often 2) laptops at my disposal from work that are at most a couple of years old and usually quite adequate.  The home computer is used by my wife and kids for email and web browsing.  It is however, becoming quite painful even for that.

I'm tagging a coupule of co-workers Steve Eadie, Steve Reitano and Susan Entwisle who are infrequent bloggers.  Perhaps this will get them started again.

UPDATE:  Steve Eadie also has an under-used blog here.

Ok so #3 is funny. I don't care who you are, but that there is funny right there.
