This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. The opinions expressed within are my own and should not be attributed to any other Individual, Company or the one I work for. I just happen to be a classic techie who is passionate about getting things to work as they should do (and are sometimes advertised and marketed as being able to?) and when I can I drop notes here to help others falling in to the same traps that I have fallen in to. If this has helped then please pass it on - if you feel that I have commented in error or disagree then please feel free to discuss with me either publically or privately? Cheers, Dave

Citrix Access Gateway Scalability - Technical Design Considerations for AG and AAC for 10,000 Users and above (Hint - use Netscaler? ;-)
Technical Design Considerations for AG and AAC for 10,000 Users · The two following pages detail the caveats and considerations that need to be addressed when designing an AG and AAC Implementation for up to 10,000 Users · It should be kept in mind that these details were documented as of January 2006 and as such there have been some changes since then. · It was anticipated that Citrix would be making reasonable efforts to improve the number of *Tunnels* available to the AG, however ......

New "C" Class Bades from HP launched today
I attended one of the events today at London Bridge where HP "announced" the release of the new "C" Class blade enclosures. Nice bit of kit, but it was somewhat let down by a very American brand of marketing where we had two of the seniors from HP supposedly ad libing via script, very droll. Anyway, I've popped over to their on-line buying and configuration tool in the US and by filling one of the new enclosures with 16 x BL460c's with Dual 3.2Ghz CPU's, 4Gb RAM, 2 x 36Gb 2.5" SAS Hot Pluggable Serial ......

Google Earth - Military Installations? revisited with Google Earth version 4 Beta?
Now I did a post on some old bases I'd worked at in the past back in July last year at So get over to Google Earth for a copy of the new Beta 4 at and check out the new User Interface, but more especially have a look at the new resolution!! The old base at Khamis in Saudi Arabia is coming through in fantastic detail - go to N18 18 E42 48 and then look a little to the right and up a tad and you'll ......

Rising Energy Prices? Best keep an eye on your Electricity and Gas Bills?
UPDATE - RESULTWell it has taken nearly a total of 3 - 4 hours and various phone calls but they have now agreed to cancel the debit side (= about £170 off the bill) and add a further £50 credit for the inconvience and effort I've had to go through before they see the light. It's definately worth sticking to your guns and pushing for what you know is right? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++... Now I will freely admit that what I have copied below is merely a ......

Now I'll warn you before you even start that this Quicktime encoded video is small, and was intended for Mobile Screens - BUT - more importantly it can be considered somewhat offensive in mixed company!!!! Troubleshooting the Citrix IM Service
I was recently asked to help a customer resolve an issue where they felt that once the a couple of the new Citrix Servers were migrated from the old NT Domain to the new AD Domain the IM service appeared to fail - possibly due to restrictions in the GPO's? First of all, not the easiest nut to crack this one, this would appear to have been a number of compounding issues that caused the fault - and coupled with the GPO Security it was easy to believe that this had caused the fault. Check the registry ......

Ensuring that Speed Screen Latency is enabled/enforced via Web Interface 4.x
I Had a client ring in with an issue today, although they are still testing, they wanted to be sure that the Speed Screen Latency was enabled for the users testing from Johannesburg, Sth Africa. They pointed out that they had already checked CTX103204 and CTX344154. I had a quick check of these and then rang him back and we initiated a GoToAssist Session. I explained the background of the template.ica file as it has been used in the older NFuse Implementations and how it is now based on the default.ica ......

Australian Economy... In a word - Booming!!
While I was back home in Australia the latest Government Budget was released, initially there was a lot of press making a big thing that there was going to be a Surplus announced (i.e. The Government had spent less than they received) and I didn't really think it was that big a deal. It wasn't until the following Sunday when I caught a review of this on a News Program did it really hit me what it was all about - this wasn't just for the year on year accounts - Australia is now debt free!! Just over ......
