The opinions expressed within are my own and should not be attributed to any other Individual, Company or the one I work for. I just happen to be a classic techie who is passionate about getting things to work as they should do (and are sometimes advertised and marketed as being able to?) and when I can I drop notes here to help others falling in to the same traps that I have fallen in to. Motorola Q for the Holidays??
Also from SmartPhone I came across this article that would appear to indicate that the Q might be available earlier than originally planned? That would also tend to back up some of what I thought was Hype on eBay where some people are offering the Q now? Although I have to say that when they want paying by Western Union as well as being in Romaina I start thinking something's not quite Kosher? Example - here - 3 x Q's for 120 Euro each, Mmmm.... I think I'll change my mind and have a chat to the ......

New SmartPhone - C600 and PocketPC - M3000 from Orange - but not in the UK!!
So I've seen here that MSMobiles covered: Orange has EDGE networks in France, Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Belgium but not in UK, so release of these 2 phones with EDGE: the Orange SPV M3000 Pocket PC phone: ... and Orange SPV C600 smartphone ... is not such a good news for UK, particularly because C600 lacks Wi-Fi and M3000 has only slow Wi-Fi (802.11b but no 802.11g). But it looks that here in the UK we will be left behind? I see also at MSMobiles that the Orange Web site in Switzerland is very ......

Thoughts on AG and AAC after messing around on a client's site?
I've finished the day and come home after spending the best part of the last 3 days getting AG and AAC 4.1.2 installed at a client's site. So after a nice glass (or two) of Bourdeaux..... What do I think now? Well given that this particular client has a heavy bias towards Notes due to their WebSphere developers AS WELL AS Active Directory, you wouldn't be surprised to find that they have two disparate LDAP's ?? would you? Mmm..... I'm thinking that something that has been sitting in the too hard ......

BlackBerry fault exposes BBC emails
Noticed this little note from ZDNet that was interesting today? The BBC has shut down its BlackBerry mobile email service after executives started receiving chunks of other people's emails The BBC has stopped its staff from using BlackBerry devices after a flaw in BlackBerry Enterprise Server meant workers received portions of emails intended for colleagues. The service was suspended after BlackBerry devices, used by 300 of the corporation's executives who spend the most time out of the office, started ......

Other **very** interesting Citrix news regarding Access Gateway 4.2 release - try
Isn't it funny how you start searching for some interesting bit of info and you turn up something that is almost relevant, but altogether more interesting? I was just doing a general search on "Citrix and blog" in Google and again was reminded of where I found this rather intriguing piece of news: "Citrix Access Gateway 4.2 Beta Is Available" mentions that Citrix Access Gateway 4.2 Beta is available for download from the netscaler ftp support site: ......

Current state of Play regarding the Citrix Access Gateway (AG) and the Advanced Access Control (AAC)
We have had confirmation that the date **should** be the 27th of Nov. but in the meantime this is what we have been advising customers who are interested in the AG and AACCustomers should delay deployment until Firmware 4.2 is released on 27th nov. Really none of our customers should proceed with a deployment of the AG/AAC until the release of the new version 4.2 Why are we recommending this? The basis for not recommending the current firmware is down to the new features and functionality: new look ......

Looks like HP has a small conundrum on their hands with the iPaq HW6500 Series?
Microsoft celebrates release of HP iPAQ hw6500 in USA but analysts say: no Windows Mobile 5.0 so do not buy it!Microsoft has launched new section at their website devoted to HP iPAQ hw6500 series phones just released by Cingular: ... but analysts are extremely angry and say clearly "no matter what features it has, don't buy it because it doesn't have Windows Mobile 5.0". Official Word On Orange C600 Wifi, AND possible WM5 upgrade for both the C550 and the M500?
If you are at all interested in upgrading your handset, or getting your hands on one of the new Windows Mobile 5 powered devices, you should really keep an eye on the MoDaCo Forums and Portal. The M5000 as you would expect was brilliant, but whats more interesting is I asked the nice chap from Microsoft if the C600 final would have WiFi or not.His response was that it was in this prototype version in my hands, and will remain so if the handset passes Orange's multiple tests which take into consideration ......

Citrix Access Gateway 4.2 - release date of update 27th Nov
In a previous Post I stated the date for the release of Citrix Access Gateway 4.2 would be a week after iForum in Vegas - but that quite plainly didn't happen. It now appears that Citrix have settled on the 27th of November as the date for the release of the 4.2 code. For anyone working on rolling out AG's and attendant AAC's you might want to at least prep your clients that there will be quite a change to the NAV UI (It's now going to be called the NAN UI???) and it changes from the Orange colours ......

IBM set to launch PC by the back door??? via Citrix?
I really don't know why IBM think this might be a good idea? Does anyone else know? After selling its PC business to Lenovo, IBM is expected to launch a BladeCentre running VMware ESX and Citrix client software for running large PC farms. The technology isn't a straight-up PC, though. Instead, it combines IBM's BladeCenter servers with VMware's ESX Server software for running multiple operating systems on one computer and Citrix Systems' software for letting people tap into programs running on a ......

Interesting Citrix problem from yesterday?
So, came across this interesting little issue: 2 Citrix Servers at , Air Con Failure leads to SAN outage, etc. The Citrix Servers wouldn't let anyone connect at all, "remote computer disconnected the session because of an error in the licensing protocol" etc. So TS Licensing was held on 2, now moved to 1 and re-activated the TS Lic. Was 60 users, but MOLP showed 90, so topped it up while I had MS Clearing House on the phone, anyway, I can now get in via RDP ONLY! ICA is still blocked, yet the TS ......

Attended Citrix's Partner Exchange here in UK last week - update on NetScaler
NetScaler now with Citrix: While at the Citrix Partner Exchange last week, we ended up learning about the new NetScaler product (Citrix bought the company not so long ago). Much more than just a Load Balancer or Accelerator, this is more like a Full Application Switch with loads of Functions, Citrix see this (probably, ;-) as embracing and extending their reach further in to remote access infrastructure? Citrix have updated their CCEA process - just in case you haven't heard?
The thing that keeps bugging me on this is that although they have updated the PLAN, it's only the CPS 4.0 CCA Exam that has been through Beta so far and available to the Public, all the rest of this is way in advance of the Exams even reaching Beta, and YET ALREADY they are insisting that Citrix Partners get up to date on accreditation......... Give me a break! Very few people saw MPS 3.0 as being sufficiently compelling to go through the upgrade process, and the same with our accreditation. It ......

Upgrading an Ageing PC? You might benefit from my experience?
I've now been living in London (this time around) since '99, and shortly after getting here I took myself off to Tottenham Road Computer Fairs with a shopping list and built my own. Convergence of Windows Mobile 5 for SmartPhone and PocketPC
Now I know I did a little piece on this not too long ago, Previous Post But I notice at MSMobiles there's a new article about Pocket PC phones that look like SmartPhone appearing in a trade show in Japan. So it would appear that even the manufacturers are going to start trying to build it all in to the device and let the customer decide what they want? But in the meantime, if anyone is looking for the ultimate in a portable Laptop then perhaps you might want to track down one of these? The folks over at Mobile Reviews have a review of a Sharp Zaurus that weighs in at 300 grammes. You might have to look hard in the photo below to see it, it's that small. Thoughts on Citrix Access Gateway and Advanced Access Control (AG & AAC)
Courtesy of our Citrix Authorised Support Centre status I spent 2 days last week covering the Access Gateway and Advanced Access Control with the Product Readiness Team in Dublin. What was quite illuminating from my (Citrix Focused) point of view was that we also managed to drag in one of our Security Consultants so that we could get more independent view on it's capabilities. The reality of it from his point of view is that he is quite amazed that we still need two devices to hang this all together, ......

Citrix Unveils “Constellation”: Next-Generation Application Virtualization Technologies - Built for/on Microsoft “Longhorn” Server

How does the new Citrix Access Gateway and Advanced Access Control architecture work?
They say a picture communicates as much as a thousand words?Try this for size? Bear in mind that for PoC (Proof of Concept) and smaller deployments there is really only a requirement for one device in the DMZ (AG or CSG/WI that you build yourself) and one on the Internal LAN (AAC) that would do all the work. From what I've seen in the past, there is no need to go beyond this until you start exceeding 150 - 200 concurrent users unless you want redundancy from the beginning ......

More on Citrix Access Gateway 4.1.2..... and how it ties in to the new AAC (Advanced Access Control - or the old MSAM?)
I think this has been one of the most frustrating periods in (in the last xx years) with dealing with Citrix and their product line up........The acquisition of Net6 promised so much, but it arrived *in-house* at a time when they were clearly well into the next revision of MSAM and quite possibly already leaning towards the End-Point Analysis route. So consolidating the two Products/Software (MSAM/Net6) was probably a headache in itself, but then combine that with the Architecture, Design and the ......

This is a request if anyone knows of a script, that possibly uses MFCOM(?), to Export or Save the Citrix Policies?I have a client that *lost* the Dedicated Print Server (due to load and the RPC Service dying) last night and in the process ALL of the 500+ Network Printers in the CMC went AWOL. I was working in Town last night and then had to make my way from Bank across to Mayfair to catch up with the Missus and I thought to myself that if I got out at Bond Street I could check out the Orange Shop there and see if they had a demonstrator of the M5000. Well they do - and now I have to say it was a disappointment, boo hoo, snif.
